Have you seen the full salon of the “ young couple with long experience” ( I mean.+ 40 years old J) dancing willingly: cha-cha, waltz, polka, mazurka esc.?

To see this phenomena you have two possibilities: 1) to go to Italian camping ( ex. Camping Cevedale) or 2) to go to “Studio Zeta”- the disco with 4 dance floors: ballroom, house, pop ( hip-hop, funk), Latino.

“Russian classical ballet is exceptional. It has glorious traditions, and is a distinct part of Russian self consciousness. The popular engagement is huge, and dance is taken to higher levels of perfection than anywhere else.”- this is one of the most common opinions about Russian ballet. However, do we know the true? Do we imagine how is difficult to reach the mentioned levels of perfection?

“ A Beautiful Tragedy “ is the title of the film, which perfectly tells the true: to succeed you need to sacrifice..even you psyche, yourself, the life….

“This film is about striving to perfection. This is the story of the class of 2004/2005, the most talented class the school has experienced in many years. The film is reflecting the ballet as a constant aspect of the integrity of Russian culture. During the last 100 years the Russians have lived through several dramatic changes of their society. Communism overthrew the Tsars empire, dictatorship and uniformism overthrew communism, Gorbachev overthrew the dictatorship, and Putin reinstalled it with the blessing from capitalism – all this, and the ballet remains the same. Regardless the color of the political leadership of the country, the ballet remains the pride of the Russian nation. The ballet is pure beauty and an arena for emotions. But the ballet also carries an implicit expression of the brutality and the demand for subordination in Russian society. The girls at the ballet-school in Perm, under the guidance of the legendary Sakharova, know nothing about the world. As if in a monastery they live in isolation, dedicated to the 200 year old conventions of classical ballet. Movements shall be perfected until the demand for beauty and grace is fulfilled. If the beauty is not glittering bright, the road back to reality is short. A kilo too much or a tired muscle – and the girls will be finished before they got started. Beauty demands sacrifices. Only in a society that demands an extreme level of sacrifice can one have such expectations of children.” David Kinsella

Moscow theater was the first: in March the head of the ballet group became Aleksej Ratmanski. He was notice by Anatolii Iksanov during the performance: “ He is very, very creative, he has talent…and he is open-minded…”. At the beginning of his work Aleksej Ratmansky did not want to introduce so much radicalism in conservative ballet group. He was repeating: “ I do not want to change a lot, I want to save what is the best in Russian ballet” But being in Moscow Theater and living in XXI century means to introduce, also in ballet, something new.

However, in Russian ballet always the past is more important than future, there is the mass believe in “the best in the world” dance-the reason for no changes. So, at the beginning Ratmasky met the opposition in the group, which is used to repertoire. Majority wanted to dance the classic. Ratmansky was blamed for “distraction of the traditional Russian ballet”. So, Ratmansky began to think: “ Is it worth to change something? Is it worth to deny all the invitations- performances from the whole world  if there is such big administration chaos?”

Another example of the “battle about the future” is in Marinsky Theater. Mahar Vaziev’s way out was also predicted. Why? Guess … He was blamed in the destruction of traditions of the Russian Ballet. Dancers and administration were furious about new repertoire of the theater- modern, new performances, contemporary dance and the fact that old ,classic performances were showed in new way ( modern).

What happens in theater administration from dancing point of view shows that ideas of introducing something new in Russian ballet were finished. Why do they need to search if this means  for direction“ error” and lost of the work? Easier is to “put everything” on the stability, which is calculated according to the formula : “ 70 % classic performances and 30 % of some experiments, for not being blamed for “ retrogression”.

Interior design implies a psycho-physiological approach. We need to understand the place, to show the functions. The aim is a place- imagine, which will represent the credibility of our service, according to the clients’ appetitive. We are talking not only about halls but also about service-rooms, wardrobes and so on. It is importance, to consider also factors which influence on our well being ( visual, acoustic aspects). The place needs to be felt as “ full of air”- so the materials should be : biotechnological, wood, linoleum or filters air-depuration.Important elements are also: lights and color, which collaborate with each other and create emotional effects.

Taking into consideration the fact, that the majority of dance places are underground, where no natural light, the color of the walls can influence on the functioning of space. Thanks to visual ergonomic we can show the function of the halls. The color is a chromatic energy which influences on different functions of our organism, on our brain and emotions. For example, looking at “acid yellow” we active the smell of lemon, looking at “ red strawberry”-smell of strawberry. So, to help respiration ( breathing)- orange, to do less ache- green and orange, help the concentration and attention – warm yellow), to grow the appetite- orange / red. This phenomena was firstly discovered by Kandinsky, who with his friends, dancers tried to integrate colors and dance.

Color is also important in costumes: red-passion, energy; blue-plasticity; yellow-dynamism; pink- positive sentiments; white-spirituality; black-heaviness, negative.

Bur remember the right color must be in dance halls, because also it is a way of communication-non verbal but visual, which inform us, create emotions, helps us to valuate the service and influences on the relation between habitat, clients and teacher.

From 2002 in Italy we can observe the boom for dance. In major part is because of some TV programs for  young public. Already in 2002 was noticed the increase in numbers of clients in dance schools: 25-30 %.

Firstly cinema, than TV: was born a new phenomena.

In 80s cinema (not TV) was the main resource of film about dance. In 1983 were shown 3film ( made in USA)about dancing “Flash Dance”, “Footloose” e“Staying Alive”.  In 2000 in cinema entered a new film “ Billy Elliot”, which is telling the story of a guy who prefers dance instead of box. Friendship, disease and passion of dancing- all this we can find in “ Time of dancing” by Peter Gilbert.

Later, in 200, was finished another film “ Save the last dance” by Thomas Carter: dancing is a way of changing in your life, new rhythms and atmosphere.

Nowadays appear many TV programs (“Operazione trionfo” and“Saranno famosi “), which can encourage adolescent to dance not only in the evenings or cinemas but also during the day. These programs “were creating” ( discovered) new talents for Tomorrow.

What was the situation in California Dance Center in Milan?

“ We did not register a big improvement, because we have been already famous and have had many courses.” We can notice this increase through growing interest in dance clothes. Yes, TV influence is  enormous ex. It is enough thinking about shoes worn by Kadiu Kledi in the program “Saranno Famosi”. Many young children want to become dancers, but to sign up for course is one thing, to work hard, to train a lot it is another, more difficult, thing-only the best will survive. Italian TV helped at least in two ways: gave motivation for dance schools to improve their quality, and people will be closer to the dance, which is still ,sometimes, considered as elite-art.”- said Marcello Ruggiero.

200 participants-this is a number of persons interested in theme “ Professional management of dance schools”. This theme was discussed on the meeting organized by IDA in Italy. The public on this meeting was composed by people from the whole  Italy and different work positions: dance teachers, ballerinas, directors of dance centers, ecc. This meeting presented new ways of management, there were discussions with journalists: Donatella Bertozzi and Francesca Bernabini. Moreover this meeting connected many famous, high-positioned persons: Federico Grill- president of Federdanza, Eugenia Casini Ropa- president of

DES, Ivan Iori-presented some new methods how to guarantee profit in the center, Elisabetta Cinelli- told how to motivate staff to work better, clients to come and students to develop themselves.

In some cases, it is thought that the normal strategy of advertising and promotion of the products and services only make the consumers’ life harder: living often the untrue information.

In the reality, if communication is true and correct it is a powerful instrument which defines the reality ex. a show in the theater.

Everything before valuation needs to be known. So everybody who works in artistic field should remember about imagine which should be on the same level of quality as the service.

Art is like bread, if not consumed at home is sold. So to buy first you need to be well informed.

First of all, decide what you want to offer. A good sense and cooperation will make beneficial your advertising.

Communication is not only verbal ,but also  visual: brochures of  dance workshops needs to be well organized ( colors), with description of client-target.

Another way very successful of promotion of a dance event is: stage, workshop, seminar, meeting, show, spectacle, competition, which usually collect mass-media.

Another instrument is mailing list, where you can send information about new organized event. This mailing list s done not only by clients but also radio­/TV programs, newspapers, organizations ecc .

It is important to understand the  aim National or local event. If it is National you need to concentrate on brochures and precise detailed in newspapers. Attention with the dates, if you need to print an information about event in a monthly magazine, you should send information 2 months before ( not 10 days before “closing” of the magazine!).

Remember not to be very snobbish, it never helps.

Folk Song and Dance Ensemble „Wisła” (The Vistula) was founded by The Association of Eastern Frontier Lovers „Wisła”. The young people, who were involved in work for ethnic groups from Eastern Frontiers of Poland, decided to create an artistic group, which will cultivate the Polish culture everywhere.
The crucial turning point came in 2004 when the Ensemble started its artistic work in Warsaw School of Economics, the oldest and leading university of economics in Poland. With its new name Folk Song and Dance Ensemble of Warsaw School of Economics has been working till now.

Every year The Folk Song and Dance Ensemble of Warsaw School of Economics puts on a lot of concert and artistic performances such as “Our Pride is Poland” for the celebration of Polish Independence Day, Bethlehem Star carols’ concert, Concert for Warsaw School of Economics Graduates, Concert for The Third Age University, Charity concert for children from orphanages and The Great Annual Concert on one of the Warsaw stages.

The Folk and Song Ensemble of Warsaw School of Economics perform with the most popular polish national dances, such as:
- polonez
- mazur
- krakowiak
- oberek
- kujawiak

During all performances we wear colorful, genuine, hand-made traditional costumes, which represent culture of particular regions. With their beauty and extraordinariness they bring real folk character and spirit to all our dances.
We believe, that these costumes combined with outstanding choreography help us make a reasonable impact on maintenance of Polish national culture heritage.

The performances of the Ensemble are accompanied by life folk band, which music is enriched by sounds of such instruments as: violin, cello, flute, trumpet, clarinet, accordion and double bass.

A good example of how dance becomes important in everyday life in Polish society ( new wave of dance)  is Warsaw Fashion Street 2008, where also were presented some costumes inspired by dance and created with the thought about women who feels like dancers.
